 Snowboard cross

Snowboard cross (boardercross) is a competition where 4-6 athletes compete in speed race at the same time. The snowboard cross course consists of a variety of bumps, obstacles and jumps. First comes the qualification where riders have single run of the course one or two times, and which then allocates the places for the final groups according to the athletes’ results (the first start number is given to the athlete with the best qualification result, etc.). Each final race has 4 athletes, with two best going to the next round, and eventually four leaders get to the final and compete for the medals.

SBX competitions have been held as part of the FIS Snowboard World Cup and World Championships since 1996. The discipline has been included in the program of the Winter Olympic Games since 2006. In Russia, FIS SBX World Cup stages were first held in the city of Miass (Chelyabinsk  Region) in 2016.
