Yenisey Siberia CIP acting as investor implements a programme for preservation and restoration of natural resources of Khakassia

Mayrykhsky Coal Mine released thousands of sterlet fry to the Abakan River. The company implements such environmental programmes on a regular basis in order to compensate for the damage caused to water resources when implementing the investment project for the development of the Beysky coal deposit in Khakassia. The project is being implemented within the Yenisey Siberia CIP.

Specialists of the environmental service of Mayrykhsky Coal Mine said that young sterlets were grown for two and a half months at the Beloyarsk fish hatchery and fed with live food before the release into the river. Thus, they are habituated to the environment they will inhabit. It should be noted that the sterlet is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Khakassia, so such measures do not only compensate for the damage caused, but help to preserve the population of rare species.

The company has been specializing in fish stocking of the Abakan River since 2017. Every season, the company releases tens of thousands of fry of different species. This year, such a programme has been implemented for the second time. 25 thousand grayling fry were released into the river in July.
