The Yenisey Siberia investment potential presented to Indian business

The presentation on the investment potential of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the Republic of Khakassia, the Tyva Republic and the Irkutsk Region was held via videoconferencing. Within its framework the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project (CIP) was also presented to the event participants.  The online event was organized by the International Affairs Office of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation with support from the Russian Federation Trade Agency in the Republic of India and the Indian Industry Confederation, involving representatives of regional State authorities. Representatives of more than 30 Indian companies took part in the event.

Trade Commissioner of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, Alexander Rybas, noted that Russia is an important strategic partner of India. According to the Director of Bajaj Industries, a member of the National Council of the Indian Industry Confederation, Pankaj Bajaj, India has a large number of partners in the Russian Federation. “Over 100 Siberian companies are already working with Indian colleagues. We are very interested in new investment projects and ready to consider the possibilities of cooperation with the Angara-Yenisey macroregion”.

During the presentation, the key economic features of the Yenisey Siberia regions, the most promising industries for foreign investment, as well as measures and mechanisms of state support were discussed.

The Minister of Economy and Regional Development of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Egor Vasiliev, showed interest in localization of new industries involving foreign business in the territory of the region and mentioned the unique opportunities for investors and services of regional support. The Minister of Economy of the the Tyva Republic, Daiynchy Ondar, emphasized the investment attractiveness of Tyva due to its access to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region and a developed tourist destination. Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Khakassia, Viktor Bogushvich, suggested that Indian business consider investment sites in the region, including 
Abaza PSEDA and Chernogorskiy industrial park, and spoke about the main preferences for residents.

Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergey Ladyzhenko presented the Yenisey Siberia CIP. “Companies from India can become partners of investment projects in the Yenisey Siberia regions, acting as contractors, technology suppliers, residents of special economic zones. They can also declare their initiatives, which can subsequently be included in the Yenisey Siberia CIP,” he added.

Sergey Ladyzhenko invited Indian companies to become residents of the special economic zones created on the Yenisey Siberia territory within the Krasnoyarsk High-Tech Valley and International transport, logistics and industrial hub based at Krasnoyarsk and Cheremshanka airports projects. The SEZ provides for a large range of preferences, including tax incentives, which may be beneficial for foreign business.

The heads of representative offices of the Corporation in Tyva and Khakassia presented the details of investment projects being implemented in the republics.

The event concluded with presentation of investment proposals and investment initiatives of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation. Deputy Director General – Head of the Directorate for Investment Projects Attraction, Alexey Nikolaev, informed the meeting about promising investment projects involving the production of goods with a high export potential: graphite, agricultural products, fertilizers and non-merchantable timber.

At the end of the presentation, Alexander Rybas noted: “Any innovative projects in various fields, involving the localization of production both in the Russian Federation and in India, are of interest to Indian business.” The Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation will provide the Indian partners with the information on all the projects for further cooperation.
