The Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation discussed the application of research results in coal industry

The Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation held and expanded meeting on the issues of extraction, storage, transportation and use of bituminous coal. Among the participants of the meeting, there were employees of the Siberian Federal University, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of coal companies, the development corporation and the Ministry of Education. The discussion covered the issues of applying the cutting-edge and promising technologies in extraction and processing of coal.

The Director General of the Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko reported that there are twelve coal industry projects carried out under the auspices of the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project. “There are new fields planned to be explored and the existing ones requiring the capacity update, modernization of energy supply facilities. We can see that the research community is highly interested in these problems. There are research achievements that can be transformed into a real action plan in the nearest future to be implemented in the production processes of our companies. Getting the researchers involved in the Yenisey Siberia investment projects is our greatest priority. In the future we are planning to do the same in other branches of industry as well”, remarked Sergei Ladyzhenko.

Representatives of the Mayrykhsky Pit Coal Company, LLC (CoalStar, LLC) reported on the project for construction of a coal enrichment facility at the explored areas of the Mayrykhsky and Beysky West sectors of Beyskoe bituminous coal field in the Republic of Khakassia. It is planned to establish a new enrichment facility at the existing production facility to increase the coal production to 50 million tons per year. The Director of the Mayrykhsky Pit for civil defence and emergency management Andrei Firsov remarked, that today the company is interested in applying research achievements in the thermophysical process sphere to the extraction, storage, transportation and use of bituminous coal, as well as to the process of transforming the free burning bituminous coal into semi-coke.

Deputy Minister of Education of the Region Maxim Rumyantsev noticed that the research and education sector of the region has the capacity to provide to the industrial companies involved in the Yenisey Siberia CIP. The meeting participants also discussed the current research results that can be adjusted to the business needs as soon as possible: among them, there are enterprise digitalization solutions for the improvement of security and efficiency, as well as energy efficient equipment for conditioning of air at the enterprises from any branches of industry.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement on organizing a visit of the representatives of research and education institutions to the coal pit to study the research object and to make up the terms of references for the works for the investor. In its turn, the Ministry of Education of Krasnoyarsk Region together with Krasnoyarsk Regional Foundation for the Support of Research and Research-Technical Activity will come up with co-financing mechanisms of the science-intensive research and studies.
