Today at the press centre of Interfax-Siberia Information Agency a press conference on the commencement of the fundamental interdisciplinary research projects was held. The press conference was participated by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Krasnoyarsk Region Denis Gergiliov, Scientific Supervisor of Siberian Federal University Eugeny Vaganov, Executive Director of Krasnoyarsk Region Science Foundation Irina Panteleeva, Vice Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activity of Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology Anton Vlasov, and Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko.
The competition is held by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research in cooperation with the Government of Krasnoyarsk Region, Regional Science Foundation and under the auspices of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation. The objective of the competition is to support the science and research teams working on the practical tasks of their industrial partners, including the Yenisey Siberia CIP investor companies.
The grants will be given to the research teams working in the territory of Krasnoyarsk Region, Republics of Khakassia and Tuva. Total budget of the competition is 60 million roubles: 20 million from RFBR, Krasnoyarsk Regional Science Foundation and industrial partners. Financial support to one project may reach 6 million roubles per year. It is planned to provide support to 12-14 scientific projects with the delivery period of one or two years. The applications are admitted from November 1 till November 12.
The competition will be announced in 9 themes, in the spheres of big data technology, new material development, machine engineering, electronics and instrument manufacture, biomedicine, medicine personalization, efficient metallurgic technologies, geological survey and radiolocation technologies, intensive agricultural technologies, environmental safety, rational nature use, sustainable development and improvement of living standards.
Irina Panteleeva remarked that Krasnoyarsk Region has been selected as a federal platform for the trilateral competition due to its active participation in the regional RFBF programmes.
Eugeny Vaganov stated that this is a pilot project which, in case of success, will be reproduced in other regions around the entire territory of the country. According to the SibFU representative, the expert commission has already found some interesting projects.
Sergei Ladyzhenko announced that the investment projects implemented under the Yenisey Siberia CIP must be of maximum benefit for the residents of the region, entrepreneurs and researchers. “This competition is especially important, as it is an efficient tool for putting this task into practice. Thanks to this competition, large companies including the Yenisey Siberia CIP investors will act as customers for the research. This way, they guarantee the applicability and co-funding of the researches, as the companies begin to invest real funds into science”, said Sergei Ladyzhenko.
