A round table “Promising areas of cooperation between St. Petersburg and Norilsk” was held in Norilsk, organized by the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs. The event was attended by representatives of the administration of the city of Norilsk, the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation, Norilsk Nickel, the business community, residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The topic of the meeting was the establishment of industrial and economic cooperation between enterprises of northern cities. The participants of the round table discussed the implementation of state policy in the field of development of scientific, research, cultural, socio-economic, environmental and other relations with the regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. During the event, representatives of the Yenisei Siberia Development Corporation discussed topical issues related to residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory with representatives of the administrations of the city of Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets Municipal District.
Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee on Arctic Affairs German Shirokov: “It is pleasant to see that the interaction of representatives of the business circles of our regions is developing actively and consistently. In 2021, the committee has already conducted a business mission in Norilsk and Taimyr, last October a business mission took place in Krasnoyarsk, two weeks ago a business delegation from the Krasnoyarsk Territory from among representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory came to St. Petersburg. I am sure that the current business mission will contribute to the conclusion of new agreements and strengthen cooperation between specific enterprises and organizations in Norilsk and St. Petersburg.”
In the main part of the meeting, the participants of the round table from St. Petersburg and Norilsk presented their reports. Representatives of large scientific and manufacturing companies from St. Petersburg presented their products and services, and also expressed a desire for mutually beneficial cooperation with the business community of Norilsk. Then there was a discussion and exchange of contacts between businessmen from the two cities.
As the organizers and participants of the event noted, the round table “Promising areas of cooperation between St. Petersburg and Norilsk” is a significant event that will strengthen economic ties and exchange experience in various fields of activity, as well as discuss issues related to the localization of production in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and obtaining the status of a resident of the Russian Arctic.
