The line up of the Russian national snowboard team for the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 announced

The Russian Snowboard Federation has announced the start list of the national team for the FIS Junior World Champs 2021, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk from March 18 to 27. In total, 38 athletes will compete for awards on the courses of the Sopka Cluster as part of the national snowboard team.

A number of 12 snowboarders will represent Russia – in aerials disciplines such as slope style, big air and half pipe. Among the participants are athletes who won prizes at international competitions of the European Cup level, as well as winners and prize-winners of Russian championships. The women’s team will include Varvara Romanova, Yaroslav Kudryashova, Yesenia Stepanova, Maria Smirnova, Tianina Antyasova, Diana Fedchenko. Nikita Abozovik, Igor Tarakanov, Daniil Stepanov, Yegor Shmurikov, Pyotr Ershov, Nikolay Markov will compete among men.

A number of 10 athletes will compete for medals in snowboard cross, including the winners and prize-winners of the Russian championships, as well as the leaders of the national Cup. Some athletes of the national team already participated in international competitions of such level. Daniil Donskikh, the Russian champion of 2019 will take part in the Junior Champs for the third time, and Evgeny Genin who is the silver medalist of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games will participate for the second. Alexander Atylin, Vadim Tuev and Arseny Tomin are also in the men’s snowboard cross team Valeria Komnatnaya, Anna Simakova, Margarita Demidova, Ksenia Kachalova and Nadezhda Pleshakova will compete for the awards among women.

A number of 16 athletes-winners and prize-winners of Russian championships will represent Russia in parallel disciplines. Many of them already have experience of participating in international tournaments. The women’s team includes the world champion in slalom and the silver medalist of the World Cup in giant slalom Sofia Nadyrshina, as well as Maria Volgina, Anastasia Malakhova, Darina Klink, Daria Belova, Elizaveta Shulgina, Olga Naydyakina, Varvara Artyukhova. Yaroslav Stepanko – two-time bronze medalist of the World Junior Championships, Stepan Naumov – silver medalist of the World Cup stage in Banny, Vsevolod Martynov, who took bronze in the team race at the World Junior Championships 2020, as well as Vladimir Pnev, Ivan Gureev, Denis Sarsembaev, Ilya Sokolov, Stanislav Kerzhentsev will represent Russian men national team in parallel disciplines.

More than 600 athletes from 33 countries are expected to take part in the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 including Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, Belgium, Belarus, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, UAE, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Thailand, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Chile, Switzerland, Estonia and Japan.
