The last preparations for the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 on Sopka Cluster

FIS Junior World Champs 2021 will be held on Sopka Cluster from March 18 to 27 and the preparations before the competitions are almost finished. The operator of the Champs is the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation.

“FIS Junior World Champs 2021 is a unique event for Krasnoyarsk,” said Sergey Ladyzhenko, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation. – For the first time such competitions are held not only in our city, but also in Russia. In addition, for the first time in the history of competitions, the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 in all disciplines of freestyle and snowboard will be held simultaneously at one venue. The Sopka Cluster allows us to host such competitions, since it is the only complex in Russia with courses for all freestyle and snowboarding disciplines that meet the FIS requirements.”

A total of 6 courses will be prepared for the Champs in the Sopka cluster, each with its own unique features.

“At present, preparations are being completed on all courses. In the nearest future, the courses will be presented to the FIS technical delegates, who will inspect the venue,” said Vyacheslav Ilyushchenkov, the head of the course preparation department of the Regional Center for Sports Facilities. – The level of the upcoming competitions corresponds to the level of the World Cup, so we did a great job. According to the technical characteristics, the courses are quite difficult. For example, the slope style course for the World Championship should have six sections, while for the Universiades, four are enough. “

In addition to the preparation of the courses, work on the organization of entertainment locations for spectators is also being completed in the Sopka cluster. So, in addition to stationary stands on sports courses, it is planned to organize equipped fan zones for spectators with screens for broadcasts, heating tents, food courts and souvenir shops. Also, entertaining locations will be prepared for the fans: a photo zone with a husky and art cubes, where everyone can create theme pictures. In addition, fans will be invited to ride dog sleds and take part in active games with animators.

According to Sergey Ladyzhenko, the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 will become a great sports event for Krasnoyarsk residents and guests of the city: “We are looking forward for guests from other countries, because athletes from different parts of the world will come to the competitions and will experience the true Siberian atmosphere. We will try to do our best to show our hospitality and support participants as real Siberians do.”
