The installation of the steel frame of the cooling tower of the Krasnoyarsk CHP-3 has been completed

The construction of a water tower-cooling tower continues at Krasnoyarsk CHPP–3 as part of the construction of the second power unit. The 88-meter-high structure will be the first cooling tower of a thermal power plant in Krasnoyarsk. The construction of the second power unit is part of the project to increase the capacity of the Krasnoyarsk CHPP-3, included in the Yeniseiskaya Sibir KIP.

Currently, the installation of the steel frame of the cooling tower has already been completed at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-3, and specialists have begun to cover it with sheet material.

Valentin Krivosheev, Deputy Director for the Implementation of DPM2 Projects at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-3: “The purpose of the cooling tower is to reduce the thermal load on the Yenisei River in accordance with the requirements of the Water Code of the Russian Federation. Process water will be constantly circulating inside the tower, which is part of the production process: it is used to cool the turbine of the power unit and other mechanisms.”

Closed technological cycles, when water makes multiple turns, can significantly reduce its consumption from public reservoirs and, as a result, minimize the impact of production on the ecosystem. After commissioning of the cooling tower of the Krasnoyarsk CHPP-3, the volume of resource used from the Yenisei will be reduced by 30 thousand cubic meters.

In general, the commissioning of the new power unit is scheduled for the end of 2024, the total cost of the project is 27 billion rubles. The second power unit will provide new opportunities for the development of Krasnoyarsk: additional heat for growing neighborhoods and electricity for the general energy system of the region. In addition, it will reduce the electrical load on the Krasnoyarsk CHP-1, located near residential areas, and move it almost out of the city.
