The first trainings of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 took place in the Sopka Cluster

The participants of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021  held their first trainings in Krasnoyarsk. Freestylers who perform in aerials and half-pipe disciplines tried the courses of Sopka Cluster as well as snowboarders who will compete for medals in slope-style. After training, the athletes shared their impressions about the Sopka Cluster and their expectations from the upcoming competitions.

“It was the first time when I went skiing here in the Sopka courses,” said freestyle skier Alexandra Glazkova, who represents Chelyabinsk Region in the Russian half-pipe team. – I liked the course. Very comfortable pipe. It would be great if our team could hold training camps here in the future ”.

Snowboarders from Poland Philip Orlik and Christoph Ovcharek said that they are satisfied with the courses and expect good results.

“This is the biggest jump I’ve ever passed,” said Philip Orlik. – In general, the Sopka cluster makes a good impression. The athletes are strong here, so the competition will be tough. “

Christoph Ovcharek who is the bronze medalist of the Polish Snowboard Championship in Slope Style and Big Air  is also ready to compete for the medals. “For me, this is the first international competition of this level. Before that, I competed in the European Cup, but here I can compete with athletes from Asia – it’s great! In general, I like everything. The races tomorrow will show what everyone here is made of”.

FIS Junior World Champs will begin tomorrow, on March 18th. Qualification in snowboard disciplines of slope-style will take place on the first day of the competitions. Freestylers will also perform: athletes in aerials will compete first, and then slope-style teams will continue qualifying races.

Please pay your attention to the additional security measures in Sopka Cluster for a comfortable and safe stay of spectators.  The entry of vehicles into the territory of the venue will be limited and parking along Biathlonnaya Street after the roundabout on Svobodny Prospect will be prohibited on the days of the competition. Driving from Biathlonnaya Street to the checkpoint of Sopka Cluster as well as parking near the checkpoint will also be prohibited. The organizers offer to use the parking lot near the Siberian Federal University ( 82 Svobodny Prospect, 82, bldg. 1). A parking space will be available to spectators upon presentation of a ticket to the competition. Without a ticket, the car can be left in the parking lot of Gremyachaya Griva eco-park or in the parking lot of the Siberian Federal University in front of the School of Oil and Gas (82 Svobodny prospect, build 6.)

Also, spectators can get to Sportcomplex Sopka bus stop by public transport or taxi (pick up and drop off on the bus stop only). People with limited mobility, arriving by an accredited social taxi, can enter Sopka Cluster for pick up and drop off.

To avoid queues, spectators should arrive in advance: checkpoints will start working one hour before the start of the event.
