The objective of the international WorldSkills movement is to raise the prestige of working professions and to promote vocational education. Professional skills competitions are held in 80 countries of the world. In Russia, the competitions unite over 100 thousand young professionals. The WorldSkills approach is attractive for employers as an efficient way of assessing the candidates and offering a job to the most promising ones.
In order to develop a workforce pool for the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project, the First Interregional Professional Skills WorldSkills-based Championship “The Yenisey Siberia: Generation Profi” was organized. In the nearest future, the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project will require a large number of qualified specialists in a wide range of areas. New projects are planned to be launched in the spheres of metallurgy, forest industry, oil extraction, agricultural industry, energy and infrastructure construction.
Opening the Championship, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko remarked that the largest-scale investment project of the country requires a lot of young, active, ambitious specialists. “This is a good opportunity for them to show themselves, to become true professionals, to find career opportunities, to get a good salary and to develop in the territory of the Yenisey Siberia Regions” said Sergei Ladyzhenko.
Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyarsk Region Olga Nikitina remarked, that the WorldSkills approach is an efficient way of assessing the level of skills of the young professionals. For the investment projects, well-trained personnel, able to adapt, work hard and increase their productivity, is of critical importance.
Among the Championship participants, there are over 140 representatives of Krasnoyarsk Region, the Republics of Khakassia and Tuva, students and graduates of educational institutions, young specialists aged under 28, and experts invited to assessed their performance. The experts are representatives of the investor companies of the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project, industrial enterprises, higher and secondary vocational educational institutions of the three regions. Partners of the competition are: Neftegasholding, Severnaya Zvezda, Segezha Group, VostokUgol companies.
The competition was held in 10 competences: welding technologies, carpentry, laboratory chemical analysis, electrical fitting, entrepreneurship, veterinary medicine, dry construction and plastering, repair and maintenance of vehicles, web design and development, cooking. The Championship lasts for two days; the results will be announced on December, 3.
The winners of the Yenisey Siberia – Generation Profi Championship, as well as champions and prize winners of the Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) competition will be included into the workforce pool of the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project to count on employment at the investment projects and the partner companies. Previously, upon the results of the Yenisey Siberia Leaders Interregional Competition, a pool of managers was formed.
The Yenisey Siberia is a comprehensive investment project aimed at socioeconomic development of the three regions: Krasnoyarsk Region, the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tuva. It encompasses 32 investment projects with the total investment value exceeding 1.9 trillion roubles for the period until 2027. There are over 60 companies involved in the delivery of the Project, including the top companies of the global industrial production markets.
