Siberian Federal University (SibFU) has held a strategic session on the implementation of research in the interests of Northern Star LLC. The company is implementing a project for the development of the Syradasay coal deposit on the Taymyr. The project is included in Yenisey Siberia CIP.
The strategic session was attended by representatives of the main engineering areas of SibFU: School of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics, School of Nonferrous Metals and Materials Science, Polytechnic School, and School of Space and Information Technology. The event discussed the company’s current scientific and technological tasks related to the implementation of the project to create a coal cluster in the Taymyr Peninsula.
The scientists discussed the implementation of applied research and development (R&D) in the following areas: the development of methods and engineering solutions for the deicing of sea vessels, the development of technologies and devices for local power generation at the Northern Star’s facilities, as well as the implementation of wireless data transmission systems.
As a result of the strategic session, the parties reached agreements
on R&Ds in the indicated areas and their inclusion in the roadmap for the interaction of Northern Star and Siberian Federal University.
“The University’s scientists have extensive experience in solving practical problems of large industrial enterprises. I believe that the accumulated experience will allow us to offer effective solutions to the company,” said Andrey Minakov, director of the School of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics.

Northern Star LLC is implementing a project for the development of the Syradasay coal deposit located 110 km southeast of the settlement of Dikson in Taymyr Dolgan-Nenets District of Krasnoyarsk Region. The resources of the field are estimated at 5 billion tons. As part of the project, Northern Star uses the latest technologies for the extraction, processing and transportation of products aimed at eliminating environmental risks and minimizing anthropogenic impact on the territory.
