Strategic session of KEF opened Minusinsk Investment Forum

The VI Minusinsk Investment Forum: Investments in Small Towns of Russia has started today. This year, the theme of the Forum will be devoted to the development of the territorial economy and investment potential of the southern macrodistrict, the interaction of government and business, as well as the role of youth in the development of the city and the region.

The strategic session of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum (KEF) “Integrated development of the Southern Macrodistrict of Krasnoyarsk Region” was one of the first to take place. Representatives of government, development institutions, business, scientific and educational organizations took part in the event. Among them are Anna Garnets, Acting Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Krasnoyarsk Region; Marat Fattakhov, Deputy General Director of the CSR Foundation; Ekaterina Kucheryavenko, Partner of Strelka Design Bureau; Alexey Bobov, Regional Development Director of the National Association of Investment Development Agencies (NAAIR); Maxim Rumyantsev, Rector of Siberian Federal University; Assia Garifulina President of the Yenisey United Bank. The moderator of the discussion was the chief editor and presenter of the federal RBC TV channel Kirill Tokarev.

During the strategic session, experts discussed how to maximize the investment potential of the southern territories of the region. Moreover, the issue of the development of tourist infrastructure and service as one of the mechanisms for increasing investment attractiveness was raised.

“If we are talking about defining the dominant economic clusters in small towns located in the southern territories, then this is most often agriculture and tourism. At the same time, we now live in a post-industrial society, where the so-called service economy plays an important role. And speaking about the investment priorities of the Southern macro-district of Krasnoyarsk Region, it is in this direction that we need to develop. The development of services both for the agro-industrial sector, where the technologization of production activities, the development of the IT sector, high—tech related industries are required. It is also needed for the population, including tourists. And these are the most promising areas of investment growth in the south of the region,” said Anna Garnets, Acting Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Krasnoyarsk Region.

The experts also discussed the prospects for the development of investment attractiveness and the investment strategy of Minusinsk and the Southern macrodistrict as a whole.

“As part of the formation of the development strategy of the Southern macrodistrict, we have analyzed more than 200 investment projects of a high degree of readiness. At the moment, we have already developed 3 investment proposals for the Southern macrodistrict – a transport and logistics center for agriculture, a tourist center in Ergaki and a factory for the production of packaging for dairy products. Thanks to such proposals, the volume of attracted investments should increase 10 times within 5-6 years. It is necessary to take into account the strengths of the macrodistrict and create attractive conditions for residents,” said Marat Fattakhov, Deputy General Director of the CSR Foundation.

Among other things, the strategic session of the KEF discussed how to keep people in small towns and what conditions need to be created. In addition to economic development, the formation of the urban environment and attractiveness is also very important.

“The driver of development in any city are jobs. For example, tourism is a driver of economic development and, in general, the development of the environment. Minusinsk has its advantages and disadvantages in this regard. Disadvantages – the city is surrounded by colossal nature. And this is a risk, because there is a large depreciation of infrastructure, and very little money remains in the city’s economy. Advantages – the city has a colossal cultural and historical heritage. Therefore, Minusinsk can become the very tourist hub. People come here and only then go to the natural places of the southern regions of Krasnoyarsk Region. Therefore, it is important to create infrastructure and service for visitors here,” said Ekaterina Kucheryavenko, Partner of Strelka Design Bureau.

The strategic session of the KEF “Integrated Development of the Southern macrodistrict of Krasnoyarsk Region” is one of the expert events that take place during the year within the framework of the KEF. At such events, the discussion of issues put on the agenda of the KEF-2023 held in March continues.

During the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum 2023 “Time for Siberia”, more than 80 events of the business, youth and educational program were held. Sixty-nine agreements were signed at the forum for the total amount of the declared investments of 565 billion rubles – this became an absolute record of the KEF in recent years.
