Single skating winners determined at the Russian Junior Figure Skating Championships 2021

Competitions among junior ladies and men in single skating of the Russian Junior Figure Skating Championships 2021 finished in Krasnoyarsk. Today the skaters presented a free program where the strongest athletes were determined.

The junior men joined the battle for the medals first. Evgeny Semenenko from Saint Petersburg, got a total of 247.37 points and became the winner of the Championships. “This is the first time I got to the podium of the Russian Championships,” he said. – After the previous competition day I tried to calm down and set my mind on the present day and I did it. I am glad that I got into the main national team of Russia ”.

Alexander Golubev  (236.58 points) got the silver medal in single skating. Yegor Rukhin closed the top three (235.71 points).

After the junior men, pairs took the ice with a short program. Leadership was taken by Yulia Artemyeva and Mikhail Nazarychev, the bronze medalists of the World Junior Championships. They got 70.87 points for their performance. The performance was goon in general but there are details that we need to work on further,” said Mikhail Nazarychev. “We are very pleased that the competition is being held in with spectators on the stands: we feel the support.”

Ksenia Akhantieva and Valery Kolesov (68.40 points) got the second place. Ekaterina Petushkova and Evgeny Malikov became the third (67.77 points).

The competition continued with a free skating performed by junior ladies. Sofia Akatieva, a student of Eteri Tutberidze, who scored 220.00 points in two programs became the winner. Sofya Akatieva made a mistake in the quadruple toeloop in free program. “I am not satisfied with my performance,” Sofya shared her emotions. – I was able to skate smoothly, with no mistakes in the elements during the training. I will prepare for the next competition to show the best results.”

Adelia Petrosyan, another student of Tutberidze, became the second in single skating among junior ladies (211.87 points). Sofia Muravyova, a student of Evgeny Plushenko Academy (208.13 points), got the third place.

The second day of competition ended with the awarding ceremony among junior men and ladies in single skating. The ceremony was attended by Alexander Uss, the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Sergey Eremin, the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk and Aleksandr Kogan, Director General of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia.

Krasnoyarsk will host the final day of the Russian Junior Figure Skating Championships 2021 on February 5. Athletes of ice dance and pairs will compete for the medals.
