Severnaya Zvezda Company to Become the First Resident of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Arctic Zone

On October 9, a meeting of the commission of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic took place in Moscow. The meeting considered the applications and documents of investors for concluding an agreement on the implementation of investment activities in the Arctic zone. The Commission considered possible the conclusion of an agreement at the request of the Severnaya Zvezda company, which is implementing a project for the development of the Syradasayskoye field on the Taimyr Peninsula of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Severnaya Zvezda company will become the first resident of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Arctic zone and one of the first residents of the Arctic zone of Russia.

As part of the development of a deposit, the company is involved in the construction of the West-Taymyr Industrial Cluster to produce the coal concentrates from coking coal on the Taimyr Peninsula. The cluster construction project is a part of the Yenisey Siberia CIP and will include the following facilities: an open-pit coal mine, deep processing enrichment plant, accommodation camp, Yenisey sea coal terminal. The implementation of the project should become an important point in the socio-economic development of the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

It should be recalled, that the Federal Law on State Support of Entrepreneurial Activity in the Russian Arctic Zone is in force at the present time in the Russian Federation. According to the law, the resident status implies a number of tax allowances and non-tax preferences.

This year the Severnaya Zvezda company plans to obtain a permit for the construction of an industrial cluster and begin work at the project site. The implementation of the project will give an impetus to the socio-economic development of the new industrial territory on the Taimyr Peninsula and the entire Arctic region of Russia.
