Specialists of the scientific and Educational Center (REC) “Yenisei Siberia” have developed a new method for extracting gold and other valuable elements from metallurgical waste. It has already been successfully tested in the fields of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. According to experts, the recycling of ore using a slightly modified technology will not only achieve an economic effect, but also improve the environmental situation near gold recovery plants (ZIF).
The new method has already been successfully tested in the fields of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Specialists of the Yeniseiskaya Sibir Research Center conducted an assessment of the gold content in the tailings of the ZIF and found that the gold content in them can reach up to three to five grams per ton.
“Waste has been accumulating at one of the experimental fields for about 30 years. We found out in what forms gold is contained there and how best to extract it. We have developed a technology for obtaining a flotation concentrate for subsequent processing. Some of the gold is in a mobile form, it can be extracted inexpensively and safely,” said Viktor Bragin, Professor of the Department of Mineral Processing at SibFU.
The scientist also noted that in order to extract the main gold reserves, it is necessary to relocate tailings dumps: this will make it possible to compactly place accumulated waste, reclaim it and reduce the negative impact on the environment.

The world-class scientific and educational Center (REC) “Yenisei Siberia” was established in 2019. It is an interregional association initiated by the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republics of Khakassia and Tyva. The participants of the REC include 28 scientific and educational organizations and enterprises of the real sector of the economy. During its work, the scientific and educational center “Yenisei Siberia” has formed more than 50 comprehensive projects for the development of new technologies, bringing together the leading scientific, educational and industrial organizations of the region and the country.
