Scientists of the Scientific Research Center “Yenisei Siberia” have created high-precision antennas

Specialists of the Yenisei Siberia Research Center have developed domestic antennas, signal receivers and software for them. According to them, the use of such systems to establish the coordinates of an object allows you to obtain data with an accuracy of one centimeter. For existing commercial analogues, the error ranges from 15-20 centimeters to one meter.

As explained in the REC project office, an import-substituting navigation signal transmission and processing system is necessary not only for domestic applications, but also to increase the level of safety of facilities, the destruction of which can lead to a man-made disaster. Scientists of the Yenisei Siberia Research Center have developed prototypes of an antenna of two different designs.

“The first type of antenna developed by our team, the spiral antenna, has a length of about 40 centimeters and a diameter of ten centimeters. It provides suppression of interference caused by multipath propagation of satellite signals, and because of this “purity” of the source data, we get more accurate values of the coordinates of the object’s location,” said Alexey Erokhin, one of the authors of the device, Associate professor of the Department of Radio Engineering at the Institute of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics of the Siberian Federal University.

The second antenna developed is an analogue of the choke ring type structures, the most used devices for receiving navigation signals. In addition to improving the accuracy of the received data, the new antenna has half the weight of its existing counterparts. The second antenna in its design has a pin screen with a diameter of 50 centimeters. The advantage of this design is that it is easy to manufacture.

In the future, the researchers plan to integrate the developed devices into dam safety systems to reduce the risks of man-made disasters. In their opinion, the designed antenna-receiver-software system will not only reduce the need to purchase foreign devices, but also, due to its characteristics, will make it possible to detect even minimal changes in the position of the most important points in the structure of massive structures.

The world-class scientific and educational Center (REC) “Yenisei Siberia” was established in 2019. It is an interregional association initiated by the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republics of Khakassia and Tyva. The participants of the REC include 28 scientific and educational organizations and enterprises of the real sector of the economy. During its work, the scientific and educational center “Yenisei Siberia” has formed more than 50 comprehensive projects for the development of new technologies, bringing together the leading scientific, educational and industrial organizations of the region and the country.
