Russian Government Supported Project to Create Krasnoyarsk High-Tech Valley SEZ

At the request of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation prepared a draft decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on the creation of the Krasnoyarsk High-Tech Valley, a special economic zone (SEZ) of the industrial-production type. The project is included in the Yenisey Siberia CIP and is aimed at creating production facilities for deep processing of aluminum and technology-intensive manufacturing.

To date, a total of six potential resident companies have confirmed their intention to invest over 6.6 billion rubles over three years and create at least 1,700 jobs. On the territory of the SEZ, it is planned to manufacture industrial equipment for the miming and metallurgical industries, as well as products for aircraft and machine building. Financing for the creation of the SEZ infrastructure will be provided by non-budgetary funding sources and funds from the regional budget of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

“The creation of a special economic zone in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is one of the key activities within the Yenisey Siberia project, which unites the economic potential of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republic of Khakassia and the Tyva Republic. The SEZ will make it possible to create a complex of processing industries based on the region’s existing potential for the production of goods with high added value,” said Sergey Galkin, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

Sergey Ladyzhenko, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation, noted that the new industrial site will enable the production of high-tech products that are in demand in Russia and on foreign markets. “Today we already have applications from anchor residents, while an active search for new investors continues. The creation of a special economic zone will make it possible to establish deep processing of aluminum, facilitate industrial development and become a new point of economic growth for Krasnoyarsk, “said Sergey Ladyzhenko.

According to the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss, the region has been working on the project for creating a SEZ for a long time, and at the beginning of this year the corresponding project was submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation. “We are talking about the production of goods with high added value from primary aluminum, which is in demand both in our region and in the country. Today, this project is under final consideration by the federal government, and we hope that under favorable conditions, it will be signed within a month,” said Alexander Uss.
