Russia Junior Figure Skating Championships 2021 has finished in Krasnoyarsk at the Crystal Ice Arena. The winners and prize-winners in ice dance and pairs were determined on the final day of the Championships.
Athletes in ice dance were first to compete for sets of medals. Arina Ushakova and Maksim Nekrasov from Moscow Region (187.55 points), who were leading in rhythm dance on the first day of the tournament, became winners. “After the test skates in Novogorsk, the coaches and I decided to change the free dance program,” said Arina Ushakova. – The Master and Margarita is not like other programs of skaters, I think that it suits us very much. We are satisfied with the performance and are really happy to win! “
Elizaveta Shanaeva and David Narizhny, a pair from Moscow (184.19 points) got the second place in ice dance. After the rhythm dance, they became third, but managed to move up to the second place thanks to their free dance. Irina Khavronina and Dario Chirizano from Moscow Region took the third place. Ttheir result for two competition days is 181.60 points.
Then pairs performed with a free program on the ice of the Crystal Ice Arena Yulia Artemyeva and Mikhail Nazarychev from Perm Region, who scored in total for two performances 204.50 points, won gold medal. The skaters won in both short and free skating. “We came to win, and we did it,” said Mikhail Nazarychev. – We were not very nervous and we were very happy to know how many points we got. We got only positive emotions for participating in the Championships.”
Ksenia Akhantyeva and Valery Kolesov from Saint Petersburg won the silver medals. They got 194.26 points becoming second in short and free programs. Anastasia Mukhortova and Dmitry Evgeniev from Moscow came from fifth to the third place getting 188.77 points.
The Russian Junior Figure Skating Championships ended with the awarding ceremony of winners and prize-winners in ice dance and pairs.
“We made a real show, and I think more than five thousand spectators who attended the competition will agree with me”, said Sergey Ladyzhenko, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation. – Competition was very intense, and various activities here in Crystal Ice Arena and on social networks made this event more spectacular. This promotes our city and the Yenisey Siberia brand across the whole Russia. It is very important that this tournament prings the development of figure skating in Krasnoyarsk. Of course, now a large number of children will show interest in this sport, and perhaps someday Krasnoyarsk will represent our city at the championships of the same or even higher level. For us, the significant result was that we received high praise from the Russian Figure Skating Federation, which will allow us to deliver the stage of the Junior Grand Prix in September this year. We understand that we are ready to handle it.”
