Research teams will receive grants to conduct surveys within the Yenisey Siberia contest

The Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Krasnoyarsk Regional Science Foundation announced the results of the second stage of the Yenisey Siberia regional contest aimed at supporting interdisciplinary fundamental scientific surveys. Different enterprises of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation are the partners of the contest, as well as the companies participating in the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project.

This year, 5 research teams will receive the grants in the amount of 60 million roubles. The projects are to be implemented in two stages by August 2022. The research will be funded by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Region and industrial enterprises.

Teams led by scientists from the Siberian State University named after M. F. Reshetnev, Siberian Federal University, Federal Research Center KSC SB RAS are among the winners of the contest. They will conduct fundamental research in the field of composite materials, electromagnetic casting technologies, forecasting and monitoring changes in flora and fauna, seismic prospecting, localization of production chains. Sergey Ladyzhenko, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation, believes that cooperation between scientific, state and industrial partners gives the best advantage to the development of the region. “Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation became one of the industrial partners of the contest. At the request of the company and investors of the Yenisey Siberia CIP, fundamental research will be carried out in the field of ensuring environmental safety, rational use of natural resources and sustainable development of the regions of the Yenisey Siberia,” said Sergey Ladyzhenko.

“We are glad that the contest is being held for the second time. The results of these fundamental researches can be implemented in practice to improve the efficiency of production and management processes. In addition, due to the order placement made by industrial partners, it becomes possible to support research teams financially,” says Executive Director of the Regional Science Foundation, Irina Panteleeva.

In addition, 12 projects worth 120 million roubles received financial support within the contest for the best scientific research last year. During the first year of research, the positive results were achieved in the fields of digital infrastructure development, efficiency growth of power plants, methods for assessing reserves of ore deposits.
