Reconstruction of the Khandagaity checkpoint on the border with Mongolia continues in Tuva

As part of the project to create a cross–border automobile corridor “Krasnoyarsk – Abakan – Ak–Dovurak – Chadan – Khandagaity – Ulangom – Khovd – Urumqi”, included in the Yeniseiskaya Sibir KIP, the reconstruction of the Khandagaity automobile checkpoint is being carried out in Tuva. The progress of work on the reconstruction of the checkpoint, where the necessary infrastructure is being created to work in a multilateral mode, was inspected by the head of Tuva Vladislav Khovalyg.

“The installation of buildings made of block-modular structures has already been completed. Capital construction facilities are being built. Water supply and sanitation systems demonstrate a high degree of readiness,” Vladislav Khovalyg noted.

The head of the region discussed with the relevant managers and the contractor the existing problematic issues and the most optimal solutions for the early completion of the first stage of work. The next stage involves the construction of a sanitary quarantine point at the checkpoint and the reconstruction of a building intended for passengers.

“The launch of a multilateral regime at the Khandagaity checkpoint is a key factor in the creation of a transport corridor from Siberia to Mongolia and China via Tuva,” Vladislav Khovalyg stressed. He noted the interest in the project from Chinese and Mongolian partners and the projected economic effect – a new impetus to entrepreneurial activity both in Tuva and in Siberia as a whole.

It is assumed that after the reconstruction, the Khandagaity checkpoint will switch to a round-the-clock operation mode, and its capacity will double.
