Project documentation of Boguchansky District timber industry complex to be ready in 1.5 years

Project design work for the construction of the Boguchansky District timber industry complex located at the site of Kraslesinvest (a part of the VEB.RF structure) starts in the next couple of months and is going to take about 1.5 years. On 9 September, this was announced by Pavel Bilibin, the senior vice president of the VEB.RF business division.

According to him, the design documentation development is planned to be started before the end of 2020. It takes about 1.5 years to make design and pass ecological and governmental review, so obtaining a permit for construction is expected in 2022. At the same time, as soon as in 2021, the main suppliers of equipment will be contracted.

Previously, Kraslesinvest announced a preliminary qualification for contractors providing documentation development services. Based on the selection results, a register of qualified suppliers will be formed for the subsequent invitation to participate in the competition for the design documentation development. Applications for participation in the preliminary selection are accepted until 17 September.

In June 2019, VEB.RF declared a memorandum of intent signing with the Rockwell Capital investment company concerning a holding company creation as a part of the mutual strategy implementation in the Russian timber processing complex. It was reported that as for an initial project, the parties intended to organise the construction of a new timber and chemical plant at the Kraslesinvest site in Boguchansky District. At that moment, the total investment to be contributed to the creation of the entire timber industry complex was estimated at 140 billion roubles.

Boguchansky timber complex is a part of the Yenisey Siberia comprehensive investment project and is a leading investment project in the forest exploitation in the Russian Federation. The project involves the construction of a large industrial enterprise with an advanced supply structure. Its capacity will be about 1,000 thousand tonnes of pulp per year. The new pulp and paper plant outputs are to be export-oriented to the countries of East and South-East Asia.
