Peerachat Promcharoenwatana – a fan from Thailand “I had to come with my daughter to support her”

The FIS Junior World Champs 2021 is being held in Krasnoyarsk, in the Sopka cluster. Not only Krasnoyarsk citizens came to support the athletes but also guests from other cities and close ones of the athletes from other countries, who have made many hours of flights to be near their beloved ones.

Peerachat Promcharoenwatana, the father of the freestyle skier Paulina Promcharoenwatana, who represents Thailand in competitions, flew with his daughter to Krasnoyarsk with four layovers: “This is our first competition held under the aegis of the FIS, so I had to come with Paulina to support her. It is also a great opportunity to see Russia. At first it was a little scary to go here, but it turned out that the people here are very friendly, and Russia is a wonderful country. “

Thailand is not the only exotic country represented at the FIS Junior World Champs 2021. Eight athletes from Chile came to take part in the competitions. They also have people to support them: during their performances, the flag of their native country was always raised from the stands.

“I am very happy to be in Russia, the atmosphere here is very friendly and fiery,” says one of the fans from Chile, Benjamin Janis. – I have already managed to fall in love with this country and will be happy to come back here again. It turned out that it is not so cold here: the sun almost always shines on competition days, and snow only helps to create a good mood! “

Of course, local citizens could not missed such a unique event for Krasnoyarsk. Families and even work teams come to the Sopka cluster. The teacher of Krasnoyarsk school №9 Elena Nasonova came to the competition with her colleagues and is already into all the intricacies of freestyle and snowboard: “I always enjoy watching competitions on TV, and now I have an opportunity to see everything live. Thanks to the commentators, I can already estimate both the speed and the tuck, I understand what trick the athlete is performing. We make lots of videos and take pictures so that later we can tell the students, especially in our school. Especially when volunteering is very popular among pupils. “

True fans of winter sports are also here, on the stands of Sopka Cluster. Vadim Lyakhov from Krasnoyarsk admitted that he tries not to miss the competitions that take place in the city: “Last year I was here at the FIS World Cup Stages: I really liked it then! There is always a great atmosphere in the competition. We were also at the Winter Universiade 2019, but we did not managed to get to the snowboard competitions. But now we did it! Today we are here with the whole family and we invited friends as well”.
