Krasnoyarsk Scientists to Prepare Recommendations for Creating Digital Infrastructure

Siberian Federal University scientists have completed the first phase of the study on the digital economy infrastructure of the Yenisey Siberia regions. The paper examines the experience of the world’s largest cluster initiatives in the field of information technology, regional specifics and details the needs. The research is being conducted with funds received within the interdisciplinary scientific research competition, organized by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research in cooperation with the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation, and industrial partners.

The results of the research will be used as part of the Krasnoyarsk Digital Valley project aimed at creating conditions for IT development, including comfortable infrastructure, scientific and resource bases, processing capacity, and as a result, reducing the time for development and launching of new products in the market. The project brings together the efforts of the regional authorities, developers and leading IT companies in the country.

“The scientific task was to develop an approach to build the institutional support for the digital ecosystem development. The growing variety of connections between organizations, citizens and socio-economic systems and the ever-increasing volume of data leads to complex integration of participants,” noted Anna Semyonova, Head of research group, HoD for Socio-Economic Planning at the Institute of Economics, Public Management and Finance of Siberian Federal University.

The report on the first stage of the study notes that the competitiveness of national and regional economies is determined by their ability to enter a new technological order. It depends upon the level of development of the digital and innovation sectors and the penetration of modern technologies into traditional industries. One of the ways of a technological breakthrough is the creation of digital valleys – territories concentrating high-tech companies, infrastructure, universities and research centers. Based on the results of the study, proposals will be prepared for the creation and development of the necessary infrastructure, potential residents are identified, and recommendations for the formation of a single digital cluster will be given.
