Krasnoyarsk Region and PJSC Polyus signed an agreement on social and economic partnership

The governor of the region, Alexander Uss, and the general director of PJSC Polyus, Pavel Grachev, signed an agreement on social and economic partnership between the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the gold mining company Polyus.

The updated agreement records the region’s obligations for the reconstruction of the road Epishino – Severo-Yeniseisk, as well as it fixes the company’s plans for the implementation of investment projects in the north of the region.

“Krasnoyarsk Region is the largest gold producer in Russia, due to the work of Polyus company, which is a long-term and strategic partner of the region. The company not only implements investment projects in the region, but it is also one of the most important taxpayers. The company also provides help in solving many social problems such as supporting the rugby team, charity and much more. I am sure that the agreement signed today will fuel our cooperation and will let the Krasnoyarsk Region to take the lead in gold mining” said Alexander Uss.

The Krasnoyarsk Region is the key area for the Polyus company; the region accounts for over 60% of the total gold production. At the same time, the volume of gold mining at the company’s enterprises in the region has grown by 40% over the past 5 years.

Polyus Krasnoyarsk is consistently one of the three largest taxpayers in the region. Tax deductions from the enterprise’s activities to the regional budget amounted to over 16 billion roubles in 2019, and more than 20 billion roubles are expected to be received in 2020.

Polyus company announced the construction of a new gold recovery plant (GRP) at Blagodatnoye deposit, which will become the fifth gold recovery plant at the Olympiadinsky mining and processing plant in Severo-Yeniseisk district of the Region. Construction of GRP-5 is part of the Yenisey Siberia comprehensive investment project. The actual start of the operation of the factory and reaching the design capacity is scheduled for 2025.

“By the additional GRP-5 plant we are increasing the Krasnoyarsk component of our production. The plant will produce up to 15 tons of gold per year at the peak of its capacity. Volumes will vary depending on the mining plan. The new GRP opens more than 350 additional job positions, gives about 20 billion roubles in taxes to the regional budget in the coming years, offers new opportunities for regional contractors and counterparties. The support that we receive from the government of the Krasnoyarsk Region to implement our projects encouraged us to build the factory,” said Pavel Grachev.

The Krasnoyarsk Region lays the groundwork for implementation of projects in a short period of time and forms a favorable investment climate. This year, the Law on Regional Investment Projects was adopted, which provides benefits and preferences for business. The project of GRP-5 construction is included in the regional investment project register according to the Regional Government order.

“Due to the application of tax and infrastructural support measures, another project of the Yenisey Siberia CIP is under implementation. This is a project with a significant volume of investments, hundreds of new jobs and a large tax return. We plan to attract local suppliers and contractors for the implementation of such project,” noted Sergey Ladyzhenko, Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation.

The creation of a new industrial facility is directly related to the construction of a road bridge across the Yenisey river near Vysokogorsky village of Yenisey District, which began in October this year. The new crossing will be the first major infrastructure facility of the industrial development of the Angaro-Yenisey economic region. It will let to develop new mineral deposits as well as to optimize the road network of the right bank of the Yenisey and Angara rivers.
