The South Cluster is a set of long-term projects aimed to increase the number of production sites in the Krasnoyarsk Region. Under these projects, new production capacities for the production of 4 million tons of ore will be built. The capacity of Zapoliarnaya mine will be increased from 1.2 to 2 million tons. The expansion and modernization of the tail facility of Norilsk Enrichment Plant are also planned. The first ore is planned to be produced in 2021, and by 2026 the production capacity is expected to reach 7 million tons. At the same time, the efficiency of technogenic waste processing in the Tail Facility No.1 will significantly increase.

Socioeconomic effects: preservation and expansion of the jobs in Norilsk Industrial District to 2000; resolution of the strategic tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation in the Order No. 204 dated May 7, 2018, in the aspect of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) development and cargo traffic increase to 80 million tons, as well as raising the economic growth rate above the global values.
