FIS Race Director Andrea Rinaldi: “Krasnoyarsk is very well equipped to host world class events”

Andrea Rinaldi, race director in Moguls&Aerials of the International Ski Federation (FIS), highly appreciated the level of organization of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021, which was held in Krasnoyarsk from March 18 to March 27.

“The team of highly qualified specialists who took part in the organization of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 proved that Krasnoyarsk is very well equipped to host world class events,” said Andrea Rinaldi. “Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, the organizers managed to successfully hold unique competitions among the strongest young athletes in the world.”

Also, the FIS race director thanked the volunteers for their great contribution to the international sports event and the popularization of freestyle skiing and snowboarding all over the world, and also congratulated the Russian teams on their successful performance in the competition.

“There is no doubt that the warm welcome and great hospitality that Krasnoyarsk afforded to the athletes and officials of the National Ski and Snowboard Associations, the media, partners, and stakeholders has left lasting and special memories for all those had the pleasure of being there on site in Siberia,” added Andrea Rinaldi.

The notable thing is that it is the first time when the competitions are held in all freestyle and snowboard events at one venue. During the competition, athletes from 28 countries of the world competed for 30 sets of medals.

Russian athletes took the first place in the team event. The Russian athletes won 9 gold, 2 silver and 10 bronze medals in freestyle. The second were the athletes from Austria (2-2-0), and the third place was taken by the participants from Japan and the Czech Republic (2-1-0). the Russians won 6 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals in snowboard. The second place is taken by the Japanese national team (5-5-0), the third are the teams from Belgium and the Czech Republic (1-0-1 each).

The FIS Junior World Champs 2021 involved 389 volunteers. Sopka Cluster, the competition venue, hosted over 14 thousand spectators over 10 days of the competitions.
