Finalists in freestyle slopestyle determined in Sopka Cluster

FIS Junior World Champs 2021 hosted a qualifying competition for freestyle slopestyle. 12 men and 6 women will perform in the finals.

The men were the first to start. The leader of the qualification was Matej Svanzer from the Czech Republic, who received 93.25 points for the first try: “The heat was not as good as I expected, the last jump was not very successful for me. I don’t know what will happen next, everyone can win, all athletes are strong here. The course is just perfect! “

Henry Sildaru from Estonia got the silver medal with a score of 88.75 points, he won the gold medal in the half-pipe yesterday as well. The top three is closed by Gian Andri Boligner (Switzerland). In the second try he managed to improve his result significantly: “I got angry when I failed in the first try: I landed badly on the rails. But I am so glad that the second time I succeeded. I look forward to tomorrow’s finals!”

Maxim Senkevich from Russia, who is on the 12 place after the qualification, expects to improve the result in the final: “In general, I assess my performance well, but I made some mistakes. I will try to improve in the final.”

Then the ladies went to the start to compete for the place in the finals. Ksenia Orlova became the leader according to the results of the qualification (84.00 points): “I am happy with my heat. Of course, I could have run better, but it didn’t work out. The course is good, however, because of the turns, the speed decreases and it is not always possible to perform the program efficiently. I plan to win in the final. “

The second place was taken by Muriel Mohr from Germany (77.00 points), on the third place is Michelle Raget from Switzerland with a result of 61.75 points. According to the qualification results, Snezhana Prayce from Russia became the fourth, the representative of Thailand Paulina Promcharoenvatana took the fifth place, the Russian Anna Ivanova took the sixth place.

After the performance, Paulina Promcharoenwatana told why she decided to go in for freestyle and shared her impressions of the competition: “This is my first international competition. I wanted to try and find out what I am capable of. At first I tried cross-country skiing, but I realized that this is not my sport. At the age of 7 I saw ski jumping, I decided to try and here I am. This trip was very long, I changed 4 different flights. This is my first trip to Russia, I thought it was much colder here, but this is not so. As for my performance, today I did everything that I planned, but I hope to improve the result. “

Freestylers will compete for the medals in slope style tomorrow, on March. 21. Qualification and final races in moguls will take place on the fourth competitive day of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021, when snowboarders will compete for medals in Big Air.
