Siberian Historical Forum

Krasnoyarsk host the VIII International Siberian Historical Forum – the largest scientific event beyond the Urals from Spetember 21 to 23 This year the forum was timed to coincide with two significant dates: the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Yenisey province and the 120th anniversary of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

The VIII Siberian Historical Forum gathered a record number of participants – more than 600 experts from 70 Russian cities and foreign countries, including India, the USA, the Great Britain, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia and others.

The forum offered 22 discussion platforms, covering the broadest range of topics – from the ancient cultures of North Asia to the present. Experts gave talks on study, preservation, and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of Siberia, and discussed other topical issues.

An important result of the forum was signing of cooperation agreements: an agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Education of Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, as well as a trilateral agreement on cooperation between the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Kunstkamera) and the Minusinsk Regional  Museum of Local Lore.

The day before the start of the VIII International Siberian Historical Forum was marked by the Congress of Local History of the Yenisey Siberia, which was attended by university professors, school teachers, employees of museums, archives and libraries, journalists and researchers of the history of Siberian regions from Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Republic of Khakassia and the Tyva Republic. The Union of Local History of the Yenisey Siberia — a public association uniting the existing local history organizations in the districts and cities of the region was founded at the congress.
