Double– track train traffic on the Birkchul – Kazanovskaya stretch has opened in Khakassia

KRASZHD has opened double–track train traffic on the Birkchul – Kazanovskaya stretch. The stage is located on the site of the Eastern polygon Mezhdurechensk – Taishet in Khakassia, its reconstruction was carried out as part of the investment project “Increasing the capacity of the section Artyshta – Mezhdurechensk – Taishet”, included in the KIP “Yenisey Siberia”.

The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the Krasnoyarsk Railway Alexey Tumanin and the Acting Minister of Transport of the Republic of Khakassia Oleg Emelin.

“Reconstruction of the Birkchul – Kazanovskaya stretch is important not only for the region. This is one of the elements of a large-scale project to increase the throughput and carrying capacity of the entire Eastern Polygon. For us, this is also the first completed facility built as part of the II stage of reconstruction of the southern course of Mezhdurechensk – Taishet, from which the Eastern polygon begins. Now we will be able to pass three times more trains along this section,” Alexey Tumanin said.

In less than two years on the stretch, which is operated in the harsh climatic conditions of Siberia, Krasnoyarsk railway workers have performed a huge amount of work without stopping the movement of trains. 24.5 km of new main tracks have been laid here and 8 reinforced concrete bridges have been erected, over 700 supports and almost 25 km of contact network have been installed. The length of the receiving tracks at the Birkchul and Kazanovskaya stations has been increased to 1050 m or more, which will allow long and heavy trains to be received.

Alexey Tumanin noted that in the next three years, 90% of the volume of all construction work on the southern course of Mezhdurechensk – Taishet will be concentrated in Khakassia. By the end of this year, it is planned to complete the construction of double-track inserts on three more stages, which provide transport accessibility to large coal enterprises in the region. All this will create reserves for the development and growth of the republic’s economy.
