Construction of the Northernmost Bridge Across the Yenisey Began in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

Today the construction of the northernmost road bridge across the Yenisey River near the Vysokogorsky village of the Yenisey region was launched. This is the seventh road bridge across the largest river in Russia. The official ceremony marking the launch of the construction was attended by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss, members of the regional government, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, heads of nearby cities and districts, representatives of the business community.

The new bridge will become the first large infrastructure facility for industrial development of the Angara-Yenisey economic region. The bridge will make it possible to develop new mineral deposits and begin the development of the road network on the right bank of the Yenisey and Angara.

In his welcoming address, Alexander Uss congratulated all those present on the historic day. “Dear friends! We are launching the construction of the long-planned Vysokogorsky bridge. The Krasnoyarsk Territory is a recognized leader in gold mining, and our main gold is there, across the river. Our significant mining enterprises are located on this territory, and the forest industry also has great interests there. The northern group of the Krasnoyarsk Territory districts has the most powerful reserves. According to the most conservative estimates, in the coming years about 180 billion rubles will be allocated here as investments, which means more than 20 thousand jobs and a significant increase in tax potential. But the most important thing is that our people live there, and the construction of this bridge will make the “mainland” closer and more accessible to them. I have no doubts that the Vysokogorsky bridge will be built in accordance with all the quality standards and in a short time,” emphasized the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

To commemorate the event, Alexander Uss and Alexander Kuleshov, the head of the Yeniseysk region, left their autographs on the glass of an art object installed at the site of the construction.

With the advent of the bridge, the commercial speed of cargo and passenger delivery from Yeniseysk to the Severo-Yeniseisky village will increase by 3-4 times. The ice bridge and ferry near the Vysokogorsky village enable year-round crossing of the river. At the same time, the speed of movement along the winter road does not exceed 20-25 km/h. The new bridge will provide a stable year-round transport connection between the central regions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Severo- Yeniseysky region, which accounts for 25% of all-Russian and almost 80% of the regional gold mining.

The construction of the bridge is included in the Yenisey Siberia CIP, which was initiated in 2018 by Alexander Uss. The facility will significantly accelerate the implementation of investment plans of mining and processing companies, such as Polyus Krasnoyarsk, Vasilievsky rudnik, Sovrudnik, Gorevsky Mining Complex, Novoangarsky Processing Plant, Yenisey Wood Processing Company and many others.

“For us, this is a long-awaited project, which is necessary both for production and for the Severo-Yeniseysky region, where our employees live and work. We are very grateful to the Governor and the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory that together with the federal authorities they managed to reach a decision on the construction of the bridge, ” said Nikita Smirnov, Director of Government Relations at Polyus Krasnoyarsk JSC.

Residents of local settlements are also eagerly awaiting the new bridge. It will facilitate to establish year-round intraregional freight and passenger traffic and will connect 17 right-bank settlements from the Vysokogorsky village to the Severo-Yeniseysky village, where over 13 thousand people live. In addition, the new bridge will help to eliminate the winter roads.

According to Alexander Kuleshov, the significance of today’s event can hardly be overestimated. “Residents of our region and neighboring territories have been waiting for this bridge for many decades. As a rule, all the election campaigns that were held here concerned its construction. Fortunately, Alexander Uss succeeded in solving this problem. We are all grateful to him,” commented Alexander Kuleshov.

It should be noted that the construction of the road bridge is included in the national project “Comprehensive plan for the modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure until 2024”. Funds in the amount of 8.3 billion rubles are provided in equal shares from the regional and federal budgets.

The carriageway of the bridge will have two lanes. Its length is 1,196.1 meters (taking into account road approaches – 2,082.54 meters). In addition to the construction of the bridge, it is planned to construct communications and road junctions. It is planned to complete the construction of the bridge in November 2023.
