Alexey Kurashov: “Krasnoyarsk will provide an example for future organizers of the world championships”

At the press conference dedicated to the opening of the FIS Junior World Champs 2021, President of the Snowboard Federation of Russia Alexey Kurashov and President of the Snowboard Federation of Russia Denis Tikhomirov mentioned the high level of preparation for the competition and the participants.

Alexey Kurashov noted how unique the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 is: “For the first time in the history of the Junior World Championships, competitions will be held at once in all freestyle and snowboard disciplines in one place and one venue. All courses in the Sopka cluster are world-class. “Krasnoyarsk will become an example for future organizers of the world championships” 264 representatives from 19 countries of the world came to the champs. Thise are very good numbers for the world junior freestyle. The Russian national team will be represented in all freestyle disciplines by 38 athletes. We have already paid attention to the national teams that are participated in the Champs and I am totally sure that the competition will be very serious. But we are getting ready to fight, we will try to win. I would like to note that although the Beijing Olympics are still far away, the winners and prize-winners of the World Champs will surely gain points, get noticed by the coaches and in the future may become candidates for the Olympic team. “

Denis Tikhomirov, President of the Snowboard Federation of Russia, first of all thanked the organizers for great amount of work to prepare the competitions: “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has been tirelessly preparing for this important event for many months. For the last two decades, the Junior World Snowboard Championships have been held regularly, but for the first time it will be held on the territory of Russia, here in Krasnoyarsk. I would like to note that the Krasnoyarsk Region has glorious traditions in snowboarding. There are good school, coaches, specialists and, of course, athletes who compete for the glory of their region and Russia. For example, Dmitry Loginov, who has already become a three-time world champion. But he left junior category last year and will not perform here. Nevertheless, there are Krasnoyarsk residents in each of the three snowboard divisions. I must say that the FIS Junior World Champs aroused great interest. Snowboarders from 26 countries of the world gathered together for the competition. This is a very serious figure. We have fully used the home quota, have appointed strong athletes and will compete for medals in each discipline.”

Please pay your attention to the additional security measures in Sopka Cluster for a comfortable and safe stay of spectators.  The entry of vehicles into the territory of the venue will be limited and parking along Biathlonnaya Street after the roundabout on Svobodny Prospect will be prohibited on the days of the competition.
