Alexander Uss and Rosneft Oil Company discuss possibility for Krasnoyarsk Territory to take part in new investment project

Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Alexander Uss and representatives of Rosneft Oil Company discussed the issues of coordinating the work of regional departments and company divisions involved in the practical implementation of the project of creation of a new world-class oil and gas province in the North of the Krasnoyarsk territory – Vostok Oil.

The meeting proceeded a business meeting between Alexander Uss and Igor Sechin, Rosneft Oil Company Chief Executive Officer, held on 31 January in Moscow to discuss the project implementation issues.

At the meeting with representatives of Rosneft, the Governor noted the potential of Krasnoyarsk Territory industrial and construction enterprises that could become potential contractors of the company. The Rosneft representatives defined their needs in regional enterprises in the area of equipment supply and construction work necessary for the practical project implementation. Vostok Oil was mentioned as a possible development “locomotive” for the regional enterprises.

An issue of training qualified personnel, required in great numerous, was also raised at the meeting. The Krasnoyarsk Territory is a strategic region for Rosneft. Large-scale development projects, such as the development of Vankor cluster fields, produced significant experience accumulated in working together with Krasnoyarsk universities to train qualified specialists in the oil and gas industry. Currently, more than 25 thousand employees work at the company’s projects in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In addition, considerable experience in localizing the production of necessary equipment has also been gained.

The meeting participants noted the need to work together to identify new opportunities for attracting the largest possible number of regional enterprises that were ready or able to manufacture the products needed by Vostok Oil. In particular, they considered the possibility of concluding long-term contracts for supply of metal structures and oil and gas equipment.

The project will get organizational support, among others, from Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation. The tools for organizing the interaction between large investors, small and medium-sized businesses, research teams, and the educational complex are already in place.
