The Krasnoyarsk Railway has opened a double-track train service on the Unerchik – Irbeiskaya section, located on the site of the Eastern Training Ground in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The reconstruction was carried out as part of the investment project “Increasing the capacity of the Artyshta – Mezhdurechensk – Taishet section” included in the Yenisei Siberia CIP.
In total, 34 km of new second main tracks have been laid on the railway section, 7 bridges have been erected, the length of the largest of them is 39 m. Almost 42 km of a contact network and more than 45 km of auto-locking lines have also been installed, through which traffic lights and switches are controlled.
An additional 1.3 km long trans-shipment track has been built at Irbeiskaya station, which is necessary for the passage of long-distance trains heading east. A total of 21 switches have been installed in the necks of the Unerchik and Irbeiskaya stations, and the stations themselves have been digitally controlled.
Alexey Tumanin, Head of the Krasnoyarsk Railway: “The Unerchik – Irbeiskaya section has become the largest object of the investment program for the expansion of the southern railway in 2024. In total, over the years of the program’s implementation, we have already built 284 km of secondary tracks in this direction. The total length of the double–track crossings of the Mezhdurechensk–Taishet line now reaches 673 km, which is more than 70% of its length.”
After modernization, the capacity of the Unerchik – Irbeiskaya section increased almost 3.7 times. The capacity of the entire southern section of the Mezhdurechensk –Taishet Railway has increased 1.6 times over the past 10 years as a result of the construction of the second tracks. This made it possible to increase transportation in the eastern direction by more than 20 million tons of cargo per year.
