The FIS Junior World Champs 2021 that will be held from March 18-27 officially start in Krasnoyarsk. About 600 representatives from 28 countries of the world will participate in the competitions.
Before the Opening Ceremony of the competitions, the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region Alexander Uss addressed the athletes and members of delegations who had gathered in the Sopka Cluster: “Again we host the world snowboard and freestyle competitions in Krasnoyarsk, in the centre of Siberia. This is possible because of the world-class sports venues and hospitable Krasnoyarsk citizens who are waiting for you. I want to sincerely thank the representatives of the International Ski Federation, Freestyle and Snowboard Federations of Russia, athletes and coaches and all those who prepared these venues and the slopes. I wish the participants of the competition good luck and success. I wish all of us to have positive emotions and only good things to remember after communication with each other. Good luck!”
Alexei Kurashov, President of the Freestyle Federation of Russia, and Denis Tikhomirov, President of the Snowboard Federation of Russia, wished a fair competition for the athletes and excitement for spectators.
The honor of the opening the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 was given to Andrea Rinaldi, FIS Race Director for Aerials and Moguls: “Dear Governor, friends, colleagues, participants and guests of the competition! I am very glad to be here today, very glad that the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 is taking place in Krasnoyarsk, in this wonderful place. Everyone had a fairly difficult season, but the Russians were able to show us that anything is possible. Truly exciting competitions begin tomorrow. Here you will see cool tricks in freestyle and snowboard disciplines. Many thanks to the Snowboard Federation of Russia and the Freestyle Federation of Russia for making all this possible, and now we are waiting for cool results from the athletes. And I declare the FIS Junior World Champs 2021 open!”
The Swiss freestyler Martino Conedera shared his impressions after the opening Ceremony: “This is my first time participating in a competition of this level. This is a real holiday. Everything here is very cool, the Sopka cluster is simply amazing, wonderful courses. It will be interesting to compete here. We also had time to go on a tour around Krasnoyarsk – it is a beautiful city”.
FIS Junior World Champs will begin tomorrow, on March 18. Qualification in snowboard disciplines of slope-style will take place on the first day of the competitions. Freestylers will also perform: athletes in aerials will compete first, and then slope-style teams will continue qualifying races.
Please pay your attention to the additional security measures in Sopka Cluster for a comfortable and safe stay of spectators. The entry of vehicles into the territory of the venue will be limited and parking along Biathlonnaya Street after the roundabout on Svobodny Prospect will be prohibited on the days of the competition. Driving from Biathlonnaya Street to the checkpoint of Sopka Cluster as well as parking near the checkpoint will also be prohibited. The organizers offer to use the parking lot near the Siberian Federal University (82 Svobodny Prospect, 82, bldg. 1). Parking will be provided to spectators upon presentation of a ticket to the competition. Without a ticket, the car can be left in the parking lot of Gremyachaya Griva eco-park or in the parking lot of the Siberian Federal University in front of the School of Oil and Gas (82 Svobodny prospect, build 6.)
Also, spectators can get to Sportcomplex Sopka bus stop by public transport or taxi (pick up and drop off on the bus stop only). People with limited mobility, arriving by an accredited social taxi, can enter Sopka Cluster for pick up and drop off.
To avoid queues, spectators should arrive in advance: checkpoints will start working one hour before the start of the event.
