The Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation and the Project Office for the Development of the Arctic (PORA) intend to run some joint projects for sustainable development of the Arctic Territories of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The cooperation agreement was signed on 20 May 2020.
The document envisages joint efforts on the development of recommendations for the improvement of living standards and joint participation in the events related to the implementation of the Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project in the Arctic territory of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
“The Project Office for the Development of the Arctic has accumulated some experience of putting some sustainable development initiatives into practice and introducing them on the federal and international levels. We hope that this experience will facilitate the implementation of the best practices of sustainable development, environmental risk mitigation and acceleration of economic growth in the Arctic territories of the Krasnoyarsk Region,” remarked Director General of the Project Office for the Development of the Arctic who signed the agreement on behalf of PORA.
“The Yenisey Siberia Comprehensive Investment Project includes large-scale investment projects in the sphere of mining and processing of mineral resources in the Arctic zone of the Krasnoyarsk Region. The project will make a significant contribution to the development of the Arctic Zone of Russia, create new jobs, contribute to the development of infrastructure, and ensure the loading of the Northern sea route. Cooperation with PORA will maximize the efficiency of the projects for both economic and social development of the northern territories,” emphasized Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko.
The Project Office for the Development of the Arctic is already running some joint projects with the administrations of several Arctic regions, such as Chukotka Autonomous Area and some research and educational institutions associated with the Arctic Zones of the Russian Federation. Those include the Karelian Research Centre of RAS, RAS Kola Science Centre, Siberian Federal University, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Department of Economy of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk) and others.
