The decision of the Bureau of the Council Of the Russian Foundation for basic research approved the results of the competition for the best projects of interdisciplinary basic research conducted by the RFBR, the government of the Krasnoyarsk territory and enterprises of the Krasnoyarsk territory, as well as participants of the complex investment project “Yenisey Siberia”. 14 projects were recommended for support in various areas of fundamental research, including 4 projects on orders from investors of KIP “Yenisey Siberia” in the field of aluminum processing technologies (OK “RUSAL”), methods of geological exploration (LLC ” UK “Intergeo”), creation of institutional infrastructure (JSC “Corporation for the development of Yenisey Siberia”, improving energy efficiency (LLC ” Nizhneboguchanskaya HPP).
Within two years, research teams will receive funds in the amount of 120 million rubles for research from the RFBR, the Krasnoyarsk regional science Foundation and industrial partners. Funding for one project will amount to 6 million rubles per year. The term of implementation of one project is two years. The research is aimed at solving fundamental scientific problems, but it is of applied importance. its results will be used to improve the efficiency of existing and future production facilities.
The Yenisey Siberia development Corporation acts as a co-organizer of the competition and an industrial partner. General Director of the Corporation Sergey Ladyzhenko notes that the implementation of large-scale investment projects within the framework of the Yenisey Siberia project requires the involvement of the scientific community in solving fundamental and applied problems of investors. “Today, the scientific and educational complex of the Krasnoyarsk territory, the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tyva has a powerful potential that can be used for breakthrough developments. I am sure that this competition will not only provide financial support for our science, but also bring real results that will be used by customers to modernize production processes”, – said Sergey Ladyzhenko.
Acting rector of the Siberian Federal University Maxim Rumyantsev notes that the projects selected as a result of the competition will become part of the content base of the future REC “Yenisey Siberia”. “As you know, within the framework of the national project “Science”, 15 such centers will be created in the country. At the end of November, an order was Issued By the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory, Alexander USS, to create a world-class scientific and educational center “Yenisey Siberia”. The release of the order completed the preparatory stage for the creation of the REC, which was launched at the beginning of 2019 on the initiative of the Siberian Federal University. Today we have a full understanding of which of the partners will join the consortium, how its work should be arranged and, most importantly, a package of REC projects is practically formed, ” Maxim Rumyantsev said.

Objective: the Project is aimed at ensuring a stable operation of heavy-duty electrolyzers in the production of aluminum.
