At the Third Federal Shift “The Power of Russia: Siberia” of Biryusa: Territory of Proactive Youth All-Russian Youth Education Forum a panel discussion “Science as a development driver for the Yenisey Siberia investment projects” was held. The discussion was participated by the Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko, Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyarsk Region Maxim Rumyantsev, Vice President of the Association of education organizations of consumers’ cooperation Maxim Mikhailov, Director for Communication with the Governmental Bodies of Polyus Krasnoyarsk Company Nikita Smirnov.
The key topic of the discussion was the application of the current research achievements to the industrial projects. The panel session participants discussed the connection between science and business, and the role to be played by the young scientists. The Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko emphasized the importance of getting the research community involved in the modern production development. “No development can be possible without scientific discoveries, research and design. It is extremely important for the new investment projects to benefit from the potential of science. The joint efforts of scientists and large companies may give a start to new production technologies and a new format of dialogue between science and business. The task of our Corporation is to be the link between those who have a need for research and those who have the scientific ideas”, said Sergei Ladyzhenko.
Deputy Minister of Education of Krasnoyarsk Region Maxim Rumyantsev, just like Maxim Mikhailov, Vice President of the Association of education organizations of consumers’ cooperation, considered the possible ways of building communication between science and businesses by means of education. Students may start looking for contact points with the companies write now, getting involved in their project and working to deliver their ideas with the support from businesses. This topic is very urgent for many participants of the forum, as there are many students doing scientific research but feel isolated within their universities. Communication with businesses could expand their research and provide them with additional resources.
Director for Communication with Governmental Bodies of Polyus Krasnoyarsk Nikita Smirnov suggested an idea of task scaling: “If we wish to go forward, if we are longing for a breakthrough, we should learn thinking globally. Scientific project must be up-to-date not only for the region, but also for the country, and even better, for the entire world”, remarked Nikita Smirnov.
The panel discussion participants agreed that the modern young scientists have all the opportunities for unleashing their potential and making use of their talents with the support of development institutions and large companies.
