At the second federal shift, “The Society” of Biryusa: Territory of Proactive Youth All-Russian Youth Education Forum, a panel discussion dedicated to the tourism potential of the Yenisey Siberia regions was held. The discussion was participated by the Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko, Head of the Regional Agency for Tourism Yulia Verkhushina and tourism sector representatives.
The discussion participants noticed that the Yenisey Siberia regions, namely Krasnoyarsk Region, the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tuva, present the unique features and opportunities that may attract tourists from all over the globe. This is the reason why it is important to base the strategy on the promotion and development of the territorial brand. According to Yulia Verkhushina, the unique nature and culture of the regions provide an opportunity to create touristic projects for sports, health, cultural and educational holidays.
At all that, there is a challenge in developing an integrated touristic product, as the region covers several climatic zones with the Arctic landscape in the north and a mild climate in the south. “The Yenisey Siberia brand provides a great potential. As the region positioning experience shows, it is of great interest, many people ask about the project and express their wish to visit the area. We need to understand how this potential can be unleashed, what mechanisms can be used, and how the brand can be applied to let people know what the territory is like”, remarked Yulia Verkhushina.
One of the most important tourism development mechanism is the private projects’ delivery. Director General of the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation Sergei Ladyzhenko remarked that the authorities and businesses may unite the efforts to develop this sector. “Development of tourism attractiveness of the Yenisey Siberia requires a systematic approach. Today the region is running several tourism cluster projects that may serve as powerful drives for the tourism branch, including the clusters of Ergaki, Divnogorsk, the Arctic, Shushenskoe and Yeniseisk. Currently the Yenisey Siberia Development Corporation is doing active work to promote the projects. The approach that brings the infrastructure and positioning efforts together will make a synergy effect and attract tourists in a more efficient way”, stated Sergei Ladyzhenko.
